Mainly, this negativity stems from the belief that authors opt to self publish if they have been unsuccessful with traditional publishers. But today, this is less true as self-publishing has gone from the last option to the best option.

For one thing the book market has been on a steady decline with the revolutions of the technology market, and one of the developments that has kept reading relevant is eBook readers.

With e-books potentially leading the market from now on, traditionally published and self-published writers are on a level playing field.

In such a case, self publishing can hold many advantages above traditional publishing; a larger margin of the profit will make its way to your pocket for one thing, and there's also a certain level of freedom that accompanies managing your own book publishing.

Self-publishing allows book writing to be approached on a more personal level, even if the books aren't likely to achieve commercial success, authors can still connect with an audience on a much smaller scale.
